Bahia Conception in Baja California Sur, Land of Opportunity!
Bahia Conception is a natural wonder lies north of Loreto about an hour’s drive in the direction of Mulege. The bay itself is roughly twenty miles long, and on its shores the rocky hills come steeply down to the water, interspersed with a series of coves and inlets ideal for camping, beach-enjoying and just plain kicking back. Its beaches have been a favorite for the camping and trailering set since the opening of the Transpeninsular Highway in the 1970’s. Its relatively shallow waters were once host to a population of clams, most of which were harvested to extinction about 30 years ago in a period of a few months, a man-made catastrophe that left behind piles of clamshells along its shores. On the peninsula to its east are more examples of cave paintings.
